DID YOU KNOW
Contributions to the Rotary Foundation are the primary source of funding for programs here and in more than 160 countries around the world. In addition to the areas of focus which include Health, Hunger, Literacy, Water, and the PolioPlus effort, the Foundation also provides for Ambassadorial Scholarships, Group Study Exchange programs, and Rotary Peace Fellowships. The link to the District website below will provide much information on these individual areas of focus, or you can go directly to www.Rotary.org.
♦ In the past 44 years, The Rotary Foundation has disbursed more than US $335 million in
matching contributions for international service projects in 199 countries. In December
TRF reached another milestone - its 30,000th Matching Grant.
♦ As of the end of June 2010 Rotary International has collected $133 million toward its goal of $200 million as part of the matching grant challenge from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The purpose of this grant is to eliminate polio worldwide. There are only 4 endemic areas left in the world - parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Nigeria and the number of cases has decreased dramatically in the last year alone. Rotary International has until June 2012 to reach the goal.
