NOTES FROM CLUB ASSEMBLY
We are all aware, at this point in our life experience, that money doesn't grow on trees:

The hard fact is that our club is not meeting our expense obligations with the current dues and fundraising system. The club's Board met and came up with suggestions that were discussed at the club assembly last Wednesday. A major issue is that the dues, which have not been raised in 8 years, will need to be bumped up a bit to cover fixed expenses like District and RI dues. Actual amount is still under discussion. In addition, a one-time assessment ($60) of each member will be requested to deal with the immediate shortfall. President Jan and Treasurer Earl gave detailed explanations and hand-outs at the assembly so please check with them, or any Board member, if you have questions or suggestions. The dues increase will be effective on July 1 but the one-time assessment is requested to be paid with this dues cycle, or no later that March 31.
This week's speaker, hosted by Percy Ashcraft, will be M. Dale Bradshaw, CEO of the Prince George Electric Cooperative. He will be able to answer questions about current status and future energy usage for the County.

NOW WE GET TO FINISH WHAT WE STARTED

As you recall, last November we participated in a five club project to work on a playground installation at Lee Memorial Park. This is a joint project with the City of Petersburg Parks and Leisure Services, the Willcox Watershed Conservancy and five Rotary clubs: Petersburg (Luncheon), Petersburg (Breakfast), Colonial Heights, Emporia, and Prince George. District Simplified Grant funds of $10,500, are used for this effort. The last workday to complete the playground will be on Saturday, March 10 (rain date March 17). We expect Rotaract and Interact members to participate, as they did before, and friends or relatives are all welcome to participate also. So put it on your calendar now and help us help our community.
