Strong committees guide the activities of our club in coordination with Rotary International and with the leadership of District 7600.

SERVICE PROJECTS COMMITTEE

Chair, John Doherty

Interact Coordinator,  Erma Brown

This Committee suggests and guides the service projects which the club under-takes.  Each year clubs are engaged in local, regional and sometimes interna-tional projects.  In the past our club has been engaged in clean water projects such as helping clean up the miles of riverfront in the county and surrounding communities, literacy projects such as distributing dictionaries to all the third graders in the county and providing financial literacy seminars for adults, inter-national projects such as helping raise funds for grammar school education tui-tion and providing immunizations for children in Kilifi, Kenya, and providing assistance for local nonprofits and governmental entities such as the Library, Cares, Healthy Families, the animal shelter and the food bank.

The club also sponsors the Interact Club at Prince George High School.  The Interact Club learns about the Four Way Test and the ideals of Rotary by en-gaging in service projects and participating in Rotary-sponsored trainings such as the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program. Erma will coordinate with the high school administration, the faculty Interact sponsor and the club to foster a strong Interact Club at the school.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

Chair, Steve Woith

The Membership Committee plays an important role in the success of our club re-taining members and recruiting new ones. Our goal this Rotary year (2010-11) is to recruit four (4) new members.  Communicating and working closely with our club committees -- Public Relations, Club Administration, Club Service and Rotary Foundation -- will enhance our opportunity to achieve this year’s goal.  Again, club membership is the key player in our ongoing challenge to retain and recruit new members.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

Chair, Alisa Skipper

Jay "C" Paul

Chana Ramsey

Carol Woodward

The Public Relations Committee is responsible for the external communications of the club.  The committee administers the club web site and produces an elec-tronic weekly newsletter in support of the Club Administration Committee. The newsletter goes to the leaders of many area clubs, prospective members, and to District level leaders.  The committee also endeavors to frequently get a Rotary picture or blurb in local newspapers, particularly, the Prince George Journal, the Petersburg Progress-Index and the Hopewell News.  Very recently, the committee established a presence for the club on Facebook.  In the future, the committee hopes to get more members involved in taking snapshots of club programs and events so those pics can be used for marketing purposes and posting on the club web site.
