Strong committees guide the activities of our club in coordination with Rotary International and with the leadership of District 7600.

CLUB ADMINISTRATION

Chair, Daniel Herr

Jan Rowley, Secretary

Earl Hale, Jr., Treasurer

Alisa Skipper

This important committee really "operates" the programming and "back office" functions of the club.  Within its purview are the attendance, club programs, in- house club communications, such as the  club newsletter and email alerts, and the financial functions of the club.

Many club programs and activities will be organized around the Rotary International Special Recognition Months:

July

August     Membership and Extension Month

September    New Generations Month

October    Vocational Service Month

November    Rotary Foundation Month

December    Rotary Family Month

January    Rotary Awareness Month

February    World Understanding Month

March    Literacy Month

April    Magazine Month

May

June    Rotary Fellowship Month

SERVICE PROJECTS COMMITTEE

Chair,  Bill Gandel

Interact Coordinator,  Erma Brown

Chana Ramsey

This Committee suggests and guides the service projects which the club undertakes.  Each year clubs are engaged in local, regional and sometimes international projects.  In the past our club has been engaged in clean water projects such as helping clean up the miles of riverfront in the county and surrounding communities, literacy projects such as distributing dictionaries to the third graders in the county and providing financial literacy seminars for adults, international projects such as helping raise funds for grammar school education tuition and providing immunizations for children in Kilifi, Kenya, and providing assistance for local non profits and governmental entities such as the Library, Cares, Healthy Families, the animal shelter and the food bank.

The club also sponsors the Interact Club at Prince George High School.  The Interact Club learns about the Four Way Test and the ideals of Rotary by engaging in service projects and participating in Rotary sponsored trainings such as the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program.  Erma will coordinate with the high school administration, the faculty Interact sponsor and the club to foster a strong Interact Club at the school.

The Membership Committee plays an important role in the success of our club retaining members and recruiting new ones.  Our goal this Rotary year (2009-10) is to recruit three (3) new members.   Communicating and working closely with our club committees - Public Relations, Club Administration, Club Service and Rotary Foundation,  will enhance our opportunity to achieve this year’s goal.  Finally, our club membership is a key player in our on-going challenge to retain and recruit new members.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

Chair, Carol Woodward

Jay "C" Paul

Chana Ramsey

Megan Davis

The Public Relations Committee is responsible for the external communications of the club.  The committee administers the club web site and produces an electronic weekly newsletter in support of the Club Administration Committee.  The newsletter goes to the leaders of many area clubs, prospective members and to District level leaders.  The committee also endeavors to frequently get a Rotary picture or blurb in local newspapers, particularly, the Prince George Journal, the Petersburg Progress-Index and the Hopewell News.  Very recently the committee established a presence for the club on Facebook.  In the future the committee hopes to get more members involved in taking snapshots of club programs and events so those pics can be used for marketing purposes and posting on the club web site.

ROTARY FOUNDATION COMMITTEE

Chair,  Floyd M. Brown, Sr.

Past President Floyd's  committee will guide and educate the club with regard to the Rotary Foundation (RF) , the status of the club's RF giving and coordinate with the Service Projects Committee and the Club's Foundation on charitable projects and giving programs.
