 ANOTHER DICTIONARY YEAR

 

The distribution of Dictionaries to Prince George Third Graders began before Thanksgiving Walton Elementary School.  Rotarian Jackie Woodruff is preparing the class members for what is available in the Dictionary they will receive.By now each the third graders on Prince George County have received a copy of his or her own Dictionary.

Club Rotarians Jan Rowley (President), Kim Wells (Club member in waiting), Erma Brown  (President-Elect) Floyd Brown (Past President) and their grandson, Keith Brown, Jay "C"  & Michele Paul and their sons, Chana Ramsey (Past President), Alisa Skipper, Bill Gandel (Past President) and Carol Woodward (Past President) received word from club member and Director of Prince George Social Services,  Shel Douglas, of the need for volunteers to help distribute drinking water which had arrived at 3 a.m. that morning.  This willing Rotary crew and their families came and pitched into the effort.

CLUB COMMENDED  BY PRINCE GEORGE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

 

 

 

 

 

At its regular meeting on August 16, 2011 the Prince George County Board of Supervisors officially commended the Rotary Club of Prince George County with a proclamation proclaiming the role of the club in creating the first public access to the Appomatox River in the County.

 

 

 

 

 

 PRINCE GEORGE ROTARY

CANOE/KAYAK LAUNCH GRAND OPENING

A HUUUUGE SUCCESS

 

 

 

Approximately 60 Rotarians and family members, county leaders, and press attended the grand opening of the club's canoe/kayak launch in the Appomattox River Regional Park.  Rotary International District 7600 Governor, Jim Bynum is featured on the left and Prince George Rotarian of the Year and Canoe Launch Build Manager, Lonnie Kitchen is on the right.  Below "Harris" from the YMCA along with his son and Prince George Rotarian Past President, Scott Firestine, put the first craft into the Appomattox River during the event.  Thanks are due to District 7600 who awarded a District Simplified Grant for the Project, to the Friends of the Lower Appomattox River, the Prince George Parks and Recreation Department, the Transportation Company from Ft. Lee and the Riverside Regional Jail Authority for their help, guidance and cooperation.
